Two Toned Colorado Beanie


If you're not from Colorado, you can still use this pattern to make double stranded beanies for a little extra thickness and awesome colors! Just leave off the C and skip the white instructions :) 


Hook: J
Material: Red Heart Super Saver
Gauge: 3 rounds & 5 dc = 3”

Use two working strands similar in color.

All sizes:
Round 1) Using magic circle, ch 2, 12 dc in circle, pull tight, join to first st with sl st – 12 dc

Round 2) Ch 2, 2 dc in every st around, join to first st with sl st – 24 dc

Round 3) Ch 2, dc in 1st st, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st* around, join to first st with sl st – 36 dc

Baby size:
Round 4 - 6) Ch 2, dc in every st around, join to first st with sl st – 36 dc

Round 7 - 8) With white, ch 2, dc in every st around, join to first st with sl st – 36 dc

Round 9 – 10) With blues, ch 2, dc in every st around, join to first st with sl st – 36 dc

Tie off.

Toddler/young child size:
Round 4) Ch 2, dc in 1st st, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st* around, join to first st with sl st – 48 dc

Round 5 - 7) Ch 2, dc in every st around, join to first st with sl st – 48 dc

Round 8 – 9) With white, ch 2, dc in every st around, join to first st with sl st – 48 dc

Round 10 – 11) With blues, ch 2, dc in every st around, join to first st with sl st – 48

Tie off.

Teen/adult size:
Round 4) Ch 2, dc in 1st st, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st* around, join to first st with sl st – 48 dc

Round 5 - 9) Ch 2, dc in every st around, join to first st with sl st – 60 dc

Round 10 – 11) With white, ch 2, dc in every st around, join to first st with sl st – 60 dc

Round 12 – 13) With blues, ch 2, dc in every st around, join to first st with sl st – 60 dc

Tie off.

Colorado C – 2 options

Option 1(small C): With G hook and yellow:
Round 1) Using magic circle, ch 2, 10 hdc in every st around, join to first st with sl st and tie off – 10 hdc

Round 2) With red - Join 2 st before tie off with a ch 2, 2 dc in every st around until you reach the last 2 st and tie off.

Option 2 (large C): With G hook and yellow:
Round 1) Using magic circle, ch 2, 12 dc in circle, pull tight, join to first st with sl st – 12 dc

Round 2) Ch 2, 2 dc in every st around, join to first st with sl st and tie off – 24 dc

Round 3) With red, Join 2 st before tie off with a ch 2, dc in first st, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st* around until you have just a few stitches left – tie off.

Round 4) Join in first st of round 3 with a ch 2, dc in first 2 st, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st* around to end – tie off

Sew or glue C over the white strip in the hat.

  1. The adult size increases to 60 stitches, but I mint understand how as the directions are the same as the child size, see round 5. Please clarify, thanks!

    How does it go from 48 stitches in row 4 to 60 in row 5-9 when you're only doing a dc in each stitch around?
