Full of Love Ear-flap Beanie

This pattern is similar to my very first graph beanie but slightly different. This is the first official graph pattern that has a newborn specific size! It is also the first graph hat that includes instructions on adding ear-flaps. Once you figure out the placement, the actual earflap piece will be easy :) I've grown so much as a designer since my first graph beanie design so you will notice differences in the gauge for this hat as well as the suggested hook size. Always make sure you check your gauge and adjust your hook size to your needs. Enjoy the free patterns! One size is for newborns and the other size will fit from babies to toddlers (for younger sizes, leave off a round and for larger rounds add a round before the graph).

Hook: J
Material: Red Heart Super Saver
Gauge: 3 st & 3 rounds = 1”

Hints & Tips:
-          When making ear flaps, use your best judgment. The instructions are guidelines to help you get them in the right place but so long as you follow the instructions once you get your placement, they should turn out right. There are different preferences for their placement which is why I say they are guidelines.

  1. Great pattern, thanks for sharing. I have one question, I can't seem to get the ribbing to go up/down like in your picture. I am doing fpdc in all the stiches but it doesn't look the same as yours. Any ideas?

    1. I think I'm having the same problem, were you able to work it out, I really want to make this cute hat as it matches a dress I made so well!

    2. The last time someone trying to make this hat had this type of issue, it was because they thought "front post" meant "front loop" - front post stitches go around the stitch below it, not through it. :) Hope this helps!

  3. Do you have a particular method you use to change colors and weave in ends after doing so?

    1. There are a couple of methods I use. Let me share them!

      1) If the color changes are close together, I carry the yarn behind.
      2) If the color changes are far away I cut and rejoin.
      3) I use bobbins. :)

      Hope this helps!

    1. No. Essentially everything has a seam. You're welcome to try various methods with getting it to appear seamless though. :)

  8. Hi. I purchased the Be Mine Graph Hat. It doesn't have the ear flaps so I thought I'd try print this pattern to see if it would work with it. I don't see a print button. How can I get it printed please? Thank you.
