Autism affects 1 in 54 boys and 1 in 252 girls. Saying that it affects us all doesn't come close to explaining why autism is something we should all be aware of. Despite how prevalent autism is in our society there are many misconceptions about it. here is a wonderful article written by Lisa Quinones-Fontanez at parents.com titled No Need to be Sorry and Other Things You Should Not Say to an Autism Parent.
Education is everything. The more you know, the better you can do. Below are some links to different sources about autism. I urge you to click them, read them and help us spread the word.

What better way to spread the word then with fashion? And why are we doing this in mid-March? So the winner has time to make these beautiful hats before April arrives!!

ReplyDeleteI think there are many misunderstandings about autism and what it entails, so I think there needs to be better awareness and education!
ReplyDeleteI agree. There needs to be so much more information about autism out there. I hope this helps. :)
DeleteMy son is on the spectrum. This is a great give away. Thanks for doing this!

DeleteI think that this is a great way to support Autism Awareness and Acceptence! My Godson/Nephew is on the spectrum so this subject is particularly close to my heart. He is such a blessing and makes everyone smile! Thank you for doing this!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. Autism is something I hold close to my heart as well. God bless you and your family!
DeleteFor me, this is a BIG thing and I think what you are doing is awesome. We found out that our son has Aspergers Syndrome when he was 8.5 years old. I knew when he was born he was "different" and I tried EVERYTHING to get our pediatrician to send him for testing. Nothing was done. We found a new doctor when he was 7 and finally was able to get testing done. Our son is now 12 years old and we love him more and more, even his quirky ways. LOL It is harder for my in-laws to accept than it was for my family, but I have been doing everything I can to make sure they understand him and other children out there.
ReplyDeleteDoctor's can be so frustrating. While we mothers do not go through the years of medical school, no one can know our children as well as we do! I'm glad you got your answers!
DeleteThis is a wonderful idea! There are so many people that are not aware of what Autism is that this will help spread the word. This is a fantastic idea!
ReplyDeleteI think that the hat is adorable and that any attention drawn to autism is a great thing to support. The more people know about it the better the lives of people with autism will be
