    Trying my hand at this pattern: confused - round 6 has 72 stitches - then it says rounds 7-16 to fpdc in every stitch but it indicates there are 60 stitches (not 72)...what am I missing? Thanks

    I made the toddler/child size and it is even too big for my huge head (24"!). I read and reread the pattern and I'm baffled.

    I used an "I" hook and just measured the hat that I made (that was way too big) and a 1x1" square was 3 rows and 3 stitches. Was your I hook 5.5mm? I know there are different ones, but I'm so confused. :/

      My hook was a 5.5 MM and I got 4 st by 4 rounds = 1 inch so it does sound like your gauge is off. It sounds like you might want to go down to an H hook and see if that helps. We will have different tensions and get different stitch sizes even if we both use the same hook.

      There were some size issues with the hat that another person brought to my attention so I just fixed the instructions yesterday. That could also be why your hat came out to big. Compare it with the instructions I have now, go down a hook size and let me know if that fixes the issue!! :)
