Triangle Stitch Pencil Case


This is the first pattern that will be part of a set. In the next couple of weeks you can expect a matching hand sanitizer case, a backpack or large book tote. :) All FREE - for now ;) 

Hook: G
Material: Loops & Threads Impeccable
Gauge: Non-essential

Special Stitches:
-          Beginning Triangle Stitch – YO, pick up a loop in first st, YO, pick up a loop in next st, YO, pick up a loop in next st, YO and pull through all 7 loops on hook, ch 2
-          Triangle Stitch – YO, pick up a loop in previous worked st, YO, pick up a loop in next st, YO, pick up a loop in next st, YO and pull through all 7 loops on hook, ch 2

o   Difference between BegTrs and Trs: the beg trs uses 3 unworked loops where the trs uses the previous st as its first st 

Pencil case:
With MC -
Round 1) Using magic circle, ch 1, 10 hdc in circle, pull tight, join to first hdc with sl st – 10 hdc

Round 2) Ch 1, 2 hdc in every st around, join to first hdc with sl st – 20 hdc

Round 3) Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next st* around, join to first sc with sl st – 30 hdc

Round 4) Ch 1, bphdc in every st around, join to first hdc with sl st – 30 hdc

Round 5) Ch 1, beg trs in 1st 3 st, trs around, join to first trs with sl st – 15 trs

Round 6) Ch 1, 2 sc in every ch 2 sp around, join to first sc with sl st

Rounds 7 – 26) Repeat rounds 5 & 6 – tie off at end of round 26

Lid:
Round 1) Using magic circle, ch 1, 10 hdc in circle, pull tight, join to first hdc with sl st – 10 hdc

Round 2) With CC, 2 sc in every st around, join to first sc with sl st – 20 hdc

Round 3) With MC, Ch 1, beg trs in 1st 3 st, trs around, join to first trs with sl st – 10 trs

Round 4) With CC, ch 1, 4 sc in every ch 2 sp around, join to first sc with sl st and tie off leaving long tail for sewing  – 40 sc

Sew lid to case with tail in 10 st of case, weave in ends and tie off.

Lid button loop:
Join in opposite side of lid from seam that you just sewed to case.
Ch 1, sc in 1 st, *ch 1, turn, sc in first st* 4 times, sc to st next to 1st st joined in, sl st into next st and tie off.

Sew button to 2nd round from the last round for the button loop to go around. Or use Velcro ;)
