The Bermuda Triangle Purse

Hook: I
Material: size 4 worsted weight
Gauge: 9” wide by 6” tall & 2 trs = 1” 8 rows = 3”

Hints & Tips:
-          When working the flap, be very careful when reading the instructions. You only decrease on the starting side. If your stitch count comes out wrong, check that you didn’t do a decrease on both ends.

Special stitches:
-          Beginning Triangle Stitch – YO, pick up a loop in first st, YO, pick up a loop in next st, YO, pick up a loop in next st, YO and pull through all 7 loops on hook, ch 2
-          Triangle Stitch – YO, pick up a loop in previous worked st, YO, pick up a loop in next st, YO, pick up a loop in next st, YO and pull through all 7 loops on hook, ch 2
o   Difference between BegTrs and Trs: the beg trs uses 3 unworked loops where the trs uses the previous st as its first st
-          Triple Crochet Triangle Stitch – *YO twice, insert hook in st, pull up a loop* three times, YO and pull through all loops on hook, ch 2
o   This stitch works the same as the regular triangle st but is a little longer

  2. Do you think this would work with Caron Simply Soft? Or is a sturdier yarn better for this project?

    1. You could use the caron simply soft so you have a softer purse but I'd suggest doing it double stranded so you get the soft and the sturdy!

  3. I like this pattern. How much yarn does it take to make? What brand did you use? It's really lovely.

    1. I used loops and thread impeccable but any worsted weight yarn will work. And It took less than 1 skein. Around 200-250 yards.

  4. I think you could also make fingerless gloves to match this pattern and they would be lovely!

  6. I absolutely love this pattern! I do however need help. On the strap, after the part where it says to go until half the desired length to repeat the instructions on the opposite side. Do you mean to repeat the instructions backwards? Like go from 6 to 1 instead of 1-6? Any help would be really helpful!

    1. Hi! I'm glad you love the pattern. :)

After you get to half the desired length, tie off and then rejoin on the other side of the chain you made on row 1 and then repeat all the steps. This will make it where your triangle stitches will face in opposite directions from one another for a cool look. :)

      Hope this helps!
