I LOVE these...I can't wait to make some! I have featured these on my blog today for Free Pattern Friday: http://stitchesbykristin.blogspot.com/2013/03/free-pattern-friday_8.html
I bought my son some socks at kmart and they had them in there. They sell them at walmart and babies r us too. Just get the socks that have them in there for shape. :)
When I come across patterns like this (no obvious way to save) I just copy and paste the whole thing into a word document and save it that way. Hope that helped. And beautiful booties by the way Amanda! Most definitely saving these for when a new baby is added to my family
Thank you! For now, it will stay free for a bit. I'm planning on making additional sizes and a matching beanie so keep your eye out for that! As for saving it, have you tried doing a screen shot?
In round 4 you state to derease over next 8 stitches. This dec the count by four . Your stitch count is decreased by 8. Did you mean to dec ove next 16 stitches decreasing by 8? Maybe you meant to write dec for 8 decreases.
Thank you for the pattern. I have a new grand-daughter coming in April and you know means a baptism and that will mean a sweat new pair of shoes. These are them.
Such a sweet little pair of baby slippers. Can't wait to try to make them. Just a bit apprehensive about baby putting the slippers in their mouths and sucking the beads. Mind they won't be able to do this for sometime after birth. Thanks for the beautiful pattern.
Your apprehension makes sense :) I don't think the odds of a baby taking them off, putting them in their mouth and getting a bead off are very high. Breaking through crocheted yarn is quite the feat! But I remember all the concerns I had about things when my daughter was born. Having a baby is about the scariest thing ever, isn't it!?
Beautiful booties! Thanks! How did you "string the beads"? Did you actually string them on the crochet cotton? I can't get them through the holes in my beads.
Thank you! With this pattern, it was actually pretty easy for me to string the beads. I've found an even easier way since creating this pattern too! (You should see the patterns I come up with where I'm putting seed beads on size 4 yarn lol.) You can stretch the tip of the yarn to make it thinner so you don't have to pull something so thick through the bead. You can also go to JoAnnes and get this type of needle that is called a big eye needle. The entire thing consists of two needles that you put the yarn through and then pull it through the yarn with that. Stretching out the yarn to thin it out really does help! Another tool I have is this little ... idk what its called but its like a needle that gets thicker as it goes towards the base and it is meant to file down the inside of a bead to make them a tiny bit larger. Back when I first started doing this, I would actually seperate the strands of the yarn so I had two strands (so for worsted weight yarn you have 2 strand consisting of two strands) and then I would use a small steel hook like a size ten for example, and then I would pull them through the bead one at a time.

DeleteWhat kind of beads did you use? Are those pearls? Any additional details would be awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are just simple pearl beads I found at hobby lobby. :) They are small but still large enough that they go over the yarn. Hope this helps!
DeleteThanks so much, my neighbor just had a new baby girl! These booties perfectly compliment the Tiara and Tutu I have already done for her. : )
ReplyDeleteSo glad you like them!!
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable. I wish there was a way to save this.
